May 8th - At the start of a heritage evening devoted to Irish Pastimes, An Cumann marked the death of Frank Martin with a moment of silence.  Frank, whose funeral occurred earlier the same day, was a founding member and staunch supporter of An Cumann.  He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.  The evening continued with an interesting presentation by Roger Stone, better known as a musician and singer, on the subject of Irish stick fighting.  Roger's comments threw new light on the shillelagh.  As he put it, "half the people of Ireland weren't lame!"  The evening then turned to the mostly peaceful subject of Irish skipping songs, with several members chanting or singing parts of the rhymes from their childhood.  There was also a discussion about Irish road bowling.  One skeptic wonderred if it wasn't just a joke being played on gullible North Americans, but a Corkonian in attendance described the game as a feature of her native county.

Thursday, April 24th - An Cumann held a Members’ Talent Night, with Tony O’Carroll as fear a’ tí  (M.C.).  Highlights included Tony's songs, an Irish language skit performed by Vera Dutin's class, a recitation of Yeats' "The Lake Isle of Innisree" by Helen Ryding and Adele Megann's reading of a wonderful short story she had written for her nephew and niece.

Saturday, March 15th - An Cumann held its St. Patrick’s Day Céilí at St. Thomas Aquinas Church Hall in Halifax.  Despite the snow, there was a large turnout for an enjoyable evening of singing, dancing, good food and moreSpecial thanks to Gill and the stew crew (Bob, Janet, Kelly and all), the kitchen crew (Gill, Janet, Kelly, Jackie, Pat L and Tara), the bar crew (Troy, Mary Rose and Katherine),  the hall set up crew (Esther, Tony, Pauline and Pat)Pauline (M.C.), Ralph (for collecting the 17 door prizes), Joe (for his unique Irish song repertoire), An Cumann's Céilí Band (Rob, Sean and Mark - Jon was in sick bay), Ronnie (sound), Elizabeth (for calling the dances), everyone who helped with cleanup, and especially to baker Pat L, who came all the way from the Annapolis Valley to provide dessert and more.  A big thank you also to Nova Scotian Crystal for providing a beautiful piece for the raffle won by Anne D.

Sunday, March 9th -
During 10:00 o’clock Mass at St. Patrick’s Church in Halifax, An Cumann's Irish Language Choir sang Seán Ó Riada's Mass , accompanied by Anne Marie Archibald on the piano.  Choir members present included Joe (cantor), Adele (also on tin whistle), Fionnuala, Elizabeth, Eiblis, Gill, Pauline, Mary Rose, Tony and Pat.
